Chicago,IL — Coming from a rough childhood living on the south side of Chicago, Ron Anderson would dropout from Bowen high school located at 2710 east 89th street at the age of 17. Ron had never played organized basketball for elementary school or high school, so he never played for Bowen high school. With no goals or ambition he would look to basketball for fun when he wasn’t working at the supermarket, he instantly became independent moving out of his parents house at the age 20.

While shooting around on the basketball court on stony island in the woodlawn area , a player from Santa Barbara city college by the name Keith Williams felt he had potential on the court and helped him get a Scholarship for the junior college. Not even five days into the next week Ron would arrive on the west coast in southern california at Santa Barbara city college ready to play ball.

Playing under coach Frank Carbajal at Santa Barbara during his two years , Anderson took advantage of books and would commit to basketball averaging 16.3 points 10.3 rebounds while shooting 58.8 percent from the field.

By the age 24 he would land a perfect role at Fresno State University, still in California but playing on a higher level of basketball playing against players like Zalgiris Kaunas and Arvydas Sabonis scoring 27 points on a Soviet club at the time.
