Simeon, has dominated the Chicago public league for year’s. But the state road to victory has been a option for them for year’s.

Simeon senior Aviyon Morris was a defensive nightmare for Lemont basketball team. After a 52–47 victory over Lemont, the Simeon basketball team gear up for state finals.

Lemont had to play catch-up the rest of the way. After a three-pointer by junior Conor Murray with 3:14 left cut Simeon’s lead to 44–40, then two free throws by Indrusaitis with 33 seconds to play on clock help pull Lemont to two points without notice.

Lemont pressed Simeon into a turnover on a inbounds play, then threw the ball out of bounds. Wolverines junior Jalen Griffith, who made two free throws with 16 seconds left to make the Wolverines’ victory possible.

Miles Rubin, a 6–8 junior, help lead the Wolverines to win (28–5) with 22 points, eight rebounds and six blocks.

Matas Castillo led Lemont with 16 points, and Joseph Pender had seven points to help battle Simeon. Matas Castillo drive to basket against Simeon in the Class 3A super-sectional at UIC. Monday, Mar. 7, 2022, in Chicago.

It came down to a close game without question, but Simeon was able to capture the win for a chance at the state finals.
